Oct 30, 2017· This work discusses the composition, radioactivity, and possible utilization of the kaolin resources in Sinai which are hosted in thick sandstone sequences belonging to the Carboniferous (Wadi Khaboba) and Early Cretaceous (Wadi Iseila and Abansakar) ages. The characterization of kaolin was done by microscopic and SEM examination, supported by XRD and ICPMS analyses.
The results showed promising effectiveness of local kaolin derived antiHCV compounds by causing 28% to 77% decrease in the HCV titer, when applied to infected Huh7 cell lines.
The environmental isotopic study revealed that the investigated local kaolin is relatively low in radioactivity except sample 7. The kaolin from Turkey is also low activity but kaolin from southeast Asia has a very high radioactivity. We recommended the kaolin discovered in Egypt can be economically exploited and can be used for export.
