Jun 01, 2017· We prepared coconut shell modifiedconcrete. • Coconut shell was utilized as coarse aggregate as partial replacement of conventional coarse aggregates. • Its utilization is a sustainable approach to consume the nonbiodegradable coconut shell waste.

II. COCONUT SHELL AS AGGREGATE Coconut shell particles are used as reinforcing material for investigation. Shell particles of size between 20 mm – 600 μ are prepared in grinding machine. Coconut shell aggregates are potential candidates for the development of new composites because of their high strength and modulus properties.

The properties of concrete with coconut shells (CS) as an aggregate replacement were studied. Control concretes were made with normal aggregate and CS concrete with a 1020% coarse aggregate replacement with CS. Two mixtures were also made with CS and fly ash to investigate the effect of fly ash on CS replaced with concrete.

Concrete obtained using coconut shell as a coarse aggregate satisfies the minimum requirements of concrete. Coconut shell aggregate resulted acceptable strength which is required for structural concrete. Coconut shell may present itself as a potential material in the field of construction industries.

As the compressive strength decreases with the increase in the % of coconut shell content, tests on coconut shell aggregates were carried out to enable the use of coconut shell concrete in road pavements. Standard value for impact and crushing test, according to IS 2386 PartIV – 1963, is 30% for wearing surfaces and the values obtained was 2%.

Nov 09, 2017· To make concrete greener and reduce the impact of rejected coconut shells on the environment, researchers have been testing the use of coconut fibers as full or partial replacement for aggregates. The ultimate goal is that concrete made of coconut husk aggregate could be used to produce lowcost housing for lowincome areas around the world.

structure by using coconut shell as an aggregate. The coconut shell is a waste material and which is easily available as well as economical in cost. Here, in this project we have analyzing compressive strength by using M25 grade concrete (1::3) with 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, partial replacement of coconut shell.

Experimental assessment on coconut shells as aggregate in concrete 8 | Page II. MATERIALS AND METHODS The materials used for concrete for this study were portland cement, sand, granite and coconut shells.

In this study, coconut shell was used as recycled lightweight aggregate in concrete. For coconut shell aggregate concrete (CSAC) to be used in realistic situations, its strength, durability and ...

Oct 09, 2014· This indeed is an interesting question. I came across some research papers. I think, this particular review Paper has an answer to your question. Please read the conclusion from the paper given below. > * The possibility exists for the partial rep...

For coconut shell aggregate to be used efficiently for construction purposes, it is imperative to investigateitsproperties. Therefore, this study examined the effect of coconut shell as fine and coarse aggregate replacement on the behavior of concrete with respect to some vital properties. The coconut shell concrete was designed for

Characterization of Coconut Shell Ash For Potential Utilization In Metal Matrix Composites For Automotive Applications. International Journal Of Engineering Science And Technology. 4(3): . Olanipekun, E., K. Olusola, and O. Ata. 2006. A Comparative Study Of Concrete Properties using Coconut Shell And Palm Kernel Shell As Coarse Aggregates.

Sep 15, 2017· Abstract. An experimental investigation was carried out to study the durability properties of Coconut Shell (CS) aggregate concrete. Effect of mineral admixtures such as fly ash and ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) as partial replacement of cement on durability properties of CS aggregate concrete was also verified.

Oct 01, 2011· The properties of concrete using coconut shell as coarse aggregate were investigated in an experimental study. Compressive, flexural, splitting tensile strengths, impact resistance and bond strength were measured and compared with the theoretical values as recommended by the standards.

The results also indicated cost reduction of 30% and 42% for concrete produced from coconut shells and palm kernel shells, respectively. Considering the strength/economy ratio, it was concluded that coconut shells were more suitable than palm kernel shells when used as substitute for conventional aggregates in concrete production. r 2005 ...

concrete using coconut shell as coarse aggregate were investigated in an experimental study and the study concluded lightweight concrete [5]. From the research works reviewed above, it can be understand that coconut shells can be successfully used as a substitute for coarse aggregate in concrete.

concrete. Moreover, filled coconut shell concrete building blocks are more load bearing. Average Split tensile strength for 7 days and 28 days curing gave N/mm2 and N/mm2 for hollow cylinder with four dome shaped coconut shells oriented in perpendicular

coconut shell is a material which can be a substitute for coarse aggregate. Coconut shell concrete has better workability because of the smooth surface on one side of the shell. The impact resistance of coconut shell concrete is high when compared with conventional concrete[7]. Moisture retaining and water absorbing capacity of coconut shell ...

concrete with partial replacement of seashells and coconut shells. They found that the compressive strength of the concrete cubes has gradually decreased from addition of 10% (5% + 5%) of coconut shells and sea shells. ...
